How to put your thinking into action
Last week, I did something that I hate doing ... I asked for help. I finally admitted to myself that despite knowing exactly what I need to do, I knew I wouldn't be able to get there on my own. So I took a deep breath and contacted an amazing coach who's going to help me work through my fears and basically kick me out of my comfort zone. I'm not going to go into the details at this stage but I promise I'll keep you updated on my progress. The back story, hence this week's blog topic, is how to go about putting your 'thinking' into ACTION!!
As you read through these, you may well be able to crack on and do it yourself BUT if you're 'feeling the fear and NOT doing it' then go to the bottom of the list first and ask for help.
- Stop procrastinating until the conditions are perfect
- Let's be honest, there's never going to be an ideal time to start something
- Stop over-thinking and start doing
- Don't think, just do. The more you think about something, the more likely it is you will talk yourself out of actually doing it.
- Keep the momentum
- Once the wheels have started turning, it's a whole lot easier to keep going.
- Turn your fear into excitement
- Nerves and fear can be downright crippling, flip them on their head by turning them into excitement about what might happen, rather than fear of what might happen.
- Focus on what you can do right now
- Don't think too far ahead as you'll start to feel overwhelmed. Focus on what you can do right at this present moment.
- Don't look back in anger
- Forget about any 'failures' in the past unless you're actually able to take the learnings from them in a positive way.
- Think big, start small
- It's ok to have big goals but don't go all in and end up running out of energy. Start with small, achievable mini goals.
- Explore your purpose
- Without knowing 'why' you're doing something in the first place, it's very hard to keep the motivation going.
- Believe in yourself
- This is really difficult but first and foremost, you have to believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, you'll find it very hard to convince other people to believe in you.
- Ask for help
- Don't ever be afraid to ask for help. People love to feel they're making a difference to someone else's life so don't be like me and keep putting it off, ask away to your heart's content!
