When did we become so completely and utterly reliant on tech??

When did we become so completely and utterly reliant on tech??   I’m usually banging on about having a break from screens, having a day of detox from your gadgets and I’m usually pretty chilled about having time away from my phone. However, recent events made me go into a complete meltdown.   Last Tuesday evening we had the mother of all storms, there was thunder, lightning, torrential rain and some pretty hefty hailstones.   I’d literally just got home from running so I was counting my blessings that I’d only encountered about 10 mins of the thunderstorm on my last mile back. As me and Mr Bob watched the worsening storm from the safety of our orangery, there was an almighty crash, bang, wallop which sounded like an explosion. We discovered the lightning had struck the lamppost outside our house and the resulting surge had blown out the phones lines and therefore the internet.   This is a pic our neighbour took and our house is directly across from where the lightnin...

Are you in need of a digital detox?

Don't get me wrong, I love my phone, iPad and laptop. My whole life are on those gadgets for a start, but I've noticed recently that I've not been having much of a break from them and they're permanently by my side and switched on. It's a poor excuse I know, but one of the reasons I haven't had many days without my digital devices over the last year is that I haven't been on holiday.  One of the things I love the most about being on holiday is the fact that I get to have a full on digital detox.  Yes, I might use my phone to take photos but that’s about it.   I take an old fashioned guidebook, notebook and pen with me and there’s nothing I enjoy more at the end of the day than sitting on the decking and jotting down notes about what I've been up to that day whilst enjoying a delicious french wine! Sadly, me and the lovely Mr Bob haven’t had a holiday since December 2019 and, equally as sad, I haven’t had much of a digital detox. Almost from the minute I ...

All the gear, no idea!

All the gear, no idea! I have to admit that when lockdown part trois was announced I felt a bit like a deflated balloon and I’m usually a pumped up kind of gal.   Last week’s boot camp was such a beautiful morning against a backdrop of fabulous surroundings and I was looking forward to many more over the coming weeks. During the Christmas holidays I’d planned out all of January’s boot camps. Sadly, like everything else right now, they’re on hold for the foreseeable future.   However, the good news for me and my fitness family is that we can carry on regardless thanks to Zoom sessions.  It’s not quite the same but at least we can still feel like a group and support each other and yesterday's online session was no exception.  They're still smiling and it was the end of the session!   Sorry, I’ve digressed somewhat from what I was going to talk about so I’ll get back on track. The thought process behind this week’s blog started with me reading something that riled ...
