Three quarters of the way there!!
Buckle up for the last quarter of the year
It's reflection time and here we are, three quarters down and only one quarter of the year to go - eek!! Let's ramp this up peeps and finish on a high.
As always, I'm going to start off the procedures by providing you with an update on what's been happening in my life during Q3. It's been crazy busy so nothing new in that respect, there's been some ups and downs along the way but I've powered through in my usual whirlwind way whilst trying to stay focused on my goals.
- Start a blog. I'm incredibly pleased with this goal and I'm finding it quite cathartic to share my musings with the big wide world (well, a handful of people and the neighbours dog). You've been so supportive and I can't thank you enough. Someone asked me recently how I managed to think of what to write. To be honest, I never really have a topic in mind from one week to the next. It's usually something that's happened to me, or someone else, during the week and that sends my thought processes into overdrive. I often get my best ideas when I'm running or soaking in the bath, in other words, when my mind is completely relaxed.
- Run a race every month during 2019. Another successful goal that I'm really enjoying ticking off. September was a tricky month as I was on holiday for half of it! However, I managed to find a race and today I ran Kirkstall Abbey 7. As you can see from the pic below, the river was rather high and we had to contend with torrential rain but you know me, I loved it!!
- Learn how to use all the apps on my phone. I've not managed to get through them all yet and this is a bit slow going as I keep getting distracted by one that I really like and then forget to look at all the others. But I've discovered loads of new things and I'll continue with this goal however long it takes.
- Learn how to play the recorder. Hmm, as I said last time, I'm really not musical but it's good fun to knock out a tune every now and then but I won't be continuing with this goal in 2020.
- Take my French to the next level. Having recently returned from La Belle France, I am pleased to report that my French is going well. What's fascinating is that I keep getting asked if I'm Belgian. My French teacher is originally from Cambrai in northern France which is only about 40 mins from the Belgian border. Am I picking up her accent and the way she says things?! Quite possibly. I've only got a couple of months to wait until my next trip to France so it's head down and keep pushing myself.
The river was rather high!!
Ok, over to you. What have you done over the last quarter? What's gone well and what's hasn't quite gone to plan? DON'T GIVE UP!! There's a whole three months until the end of the year so there's still time to either get back on-track or set yourself a new mini goal to achieve.
Mini goals are ones that you know can be easily achieved - they're perfect for giving yourself a little boost.
- Think of a small goal that you'd really like to achieve before the end of the year.
- Write it down and place it somewhere you can see every single day.
- Tell someone else so that you can be held accountable.
- Break it down into small steps. Yes, I know it's already the smallest of goals but this will help when you set bigger goals. So break it down no matter how ridiculous it seems.
- Set a date for when you'll start step 1, tick, onto step 2, tick ....
- MINI GOAL .... DONE!!
Next week, we'll be into 'Optimistic October'!!
