Look good, feel great, keep it simple

Life is complicated enough so do yourself a favour and simplify your health and fitness routine This week I'm going off-piste from the house dramas because, quite honestly, I'm boring myself so goodness knows what everyone else is feeling like.  Instead, I'm going to be talking about health and fitness, an area I'm quite au fait with and one which you might get more use out of rather than my house escapades! Looking good and feeling great is an ongoing project, it's not something you can dip in and out of when you feel like it.  Our lifestyle choices affect our skin, hair, nails, body image, gut health, sleep patterns, mental health and so the list goes on.  Which is why it's really important to be consistent, not always easy when life gets in the way. Exercise is hugely important but it's also worth reminding yourself that nutrition plays a significant role in your health too.  If this is an area you are neglecting, then along with a decrease in your workou...

A light at the end of the tunnel

It's a great feeling when you're within  touching distance of the other side I was determined not to be a house bore this week but quite honestly that's all my life consists of right now, along with work and running.  Sad ... but true. However, after almost 4 weeks of what can only be described as 'challenging' to say the least, I feel like we are finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Having said that, it still hasn't been all plain sailing this week as we had to call a plumber out 3 times, yes 3 times!!  I feel like I've missed my calling in life, I can sniff out the smallest of leaks before disaster strikes.  Hopefully, we've seen the last of the plumbing problems and we can now move forwards with decorating. Saturday was a major breakthrough as we finally got the flooring finished in the hall (when I say 'we', I actually mean Mr Bob's son, highlight of his week coming round to help us on the weekend!!) and we sorted ...

Looking back, looking forward and staying positive

March seems a very long time ago When I did my review of Q1 at the end of March, we'd only scraped the surface of what the impact of Covid would be and we were in our first week of lockdown.  We had no idea of what would happen, how quickly and the devastating effect it would have all across the world.  We've seen the absolute best of people but have also witnessed the worst.  There's been lots of not so good things but thankfully a whole heap of positives to take from the situation too. We've made it to the end of Q2 and we're half way through the year.  That means we have a whole other half to turn the ship around and end this year on a high.  What we've learnt over the past few months will help us to achieve just that.  We've become stronger, more resilient and achieved things we never believed were possible.  I've tried to remain as focused as ever and, as always, let's take a quick recap at the 6 areas I'm looking to improve this year and ho...

Focus on the mile you're in right now

What a way to end the week!! The end of the week, and the end of yet another quarter, certainly ended with a bang.  In fact, it almost ended with a crash, bang, wallop!! It seems like a lifetime since we moved house and yet it's only been just over a week.  We'd managed to get a few things done over the course of the week but yesterday's events almost put paid to that.  I was preparing for boot camp on Saturday  morning when I heard a squeal from Mr Bob - "look at this, that wasn't there before".  I looked up and saw a water stain on the living room ceiling.  Luckily, Mr Bob's son had arrived to help us out with a few things so we all raced upstairs to track down the problem.  Eek, it was obvious we'd have to rip up the bedroom floor.  My heart sank, the bedroom was one of the few rooms we'd finished and it looked lovely.  I had no option but to go ahead with my boot camp as it was far too late to cancel at this point.  I couldn't go out...
